Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre

Focusing on developing skills in singing, dancing and acting, musical theatre also provides students with a thorough knowledge of stagecraft.

Sixth graders may enroll in an introduction to musical theatre course that meets three times a week.

A similar course is available to students in grades 7 through 9, but as part of the regular performing arts curriculum, meeting daily. The curriculum includes the basics described above at a more advanced level. A musical theatre production near the end of the second semester is the culmination of the course.

These are both performance-based courses, so all of the activities are geared toward a culminating event -- the full performance of a musical, complete with sets, costumes and props! This is the students' opportunity to share all the skills developed over the school year with each other as well as an audience.
