Performing Arts

The ‘Iolani School Performing Arts Department offers a balanced program in the areas of band, orchestra, stage band, chorus, dance, Orff ensemble, musical theatre and theatre.

All of these courses provide basic as well as advanced instruction.

The department presents performances for the school and community. Ensembles travel extensively to the mainland and to foreign countries.

The department, in conjunction with the 'Iolani Dramatic Players (IDP), produces a play in the fall and a musical in the spring.

Chamber music programs are also available for students with coaching by professional musicians.

Piano students are encouraged to join a performing arts group. While learning another instrument, they may also have opportunities to further their piano skills by playing accompaniment parts in band and orchestra ensembles.

‘Iolani School's Dance Team is open to students in K-12 by audition and meets after school.

Private music lessons on campus are coordinated through the Performing Arts Department. To request a teacher for the first time, please submit a Lesson Inquiry Form by Dec. 14. Your teacher will be in direct contact with you to set up your lesson times and payment. Lessons will begin the week of Jan. 16.

Performance-based after school classes are provided through the school's Special Programs Office.
