Lower School Boys
During the first quarter, Raider teams participated in their second season of play in the Christian Schools Athletic League’s boys basketball season, which culminated on Oct. 13, with the Kamehameha Elementary Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama campus.
‘Iolani’s four squads were among 26 teams from 13 different schools that competed in two divisions at the annual post-season tournament. After pool play, all four Raider teams advanced to the Gold Brackets of their respective divisions for semifinal and championship round games.
When the exciting day of basketball had come to a pulsating conclusion, ‘Iolani squads had placed first and third in the competitive division and first and fourth in the developmental division. More importantly, our boys competed with great sportsmanship and humility, and they exemplified ‘Iolani School's "One Team" spirit throughout the entire season. Go Raiders!
CSAL LEAGUE PHILOSOPHY -- "The Christian School Athletic League (CSAL) provides schools an opportunity for students to begin to learn and develop fundamental skills of the game. The objectives are to foster an appreciation for team sports and the camaraderie, sportsmanship and fun; inherent in participation. The emphasis is on participation and allowing each member of the team to experience playing time. While scores are recorded during the game; won-loss records will not be published and a league champion will not be determined. School officials, coaches, parents and students are expected to support and promote Christian values by displaying fair play, good sportsmanship and self-discipline."
Coaches: Ryan Harimoto '87, Grant Fusato '85, Daniel Shiu '87, Scott Simon '88, Rick Yokogawa '84
