Community:
Cosmopolitan with multi-ethnic culture. Population of 899,000; 35,000 students in 32 public high schools; 9,000 attend 31 private high schools; University of Hawai'i Manoa and East-West Center within a mile of 'Iolani campus.
School:
Independent, college preparatory (99% attend 4-year and 1% attend 2-year colleges) day school for boys and girls. Current K-12 enrollment of 1,835 with 1,290 in grades 7-12. Founded in 1863; related historically to the Episcopal Church. Admissions is highly selective (1:6acceptance rate). The school’s operating budget is $34 million and its endowment is valued at $140 million. Reflecting the Islands' diversity, the student body is ethnically and socio-economically diverse, with over half the student body claiming multiple ethnicities. Special talent search and scholarship programs award over $1 million per year in financial assistance.
Number of teaching faculty, 169. Academic calendar, 4 quarters (9 weeks per quarter). Student-Teacher ratio of 11:1; average class 16. Campus of 25 acres with modern facilities; 9 science laboratories, library teaching-learning center with 31,000 volumes. Complete audio-visual department, photography lab, five separate microcomputer labs with 153 IBM and Apple work stations. Two gymnasiums, Olympic-size pool, tennis courts and athletic fields. The Weinberg Building, completed in the summer of 2003, added 32 classrooms, 5 science laboratories, 1 computer lab, an 800-seat multipurpose meeting room, and 350 parking spaces.

In 2006, 849 AP Examinations were written, with 56% earning scores of 5, 85% earning scores of 4 or 5, and 97% receiving scores of 3, 4, or 5. In the class of 2007, 195 (85%) seniors are taking one or more AP courses.

2006 National Merit Scholarship Competition
Class of 2006 has 28 National Merit Semifinalists out of a total of 73 from Hawai'i, and one National Achievement Semifinalist. The Class of 2006 had 34 National Merit Semifinalists, 1 National Achievement Finalist, and 50 National Merit Commended Students.
