In 1991 Iolani's football field and all-weather track were dedicated to Edward K. Hamada in recognition of his long association with the school. Eddie Hamada graduated from Iolani in 1946 and joined the staff seven years later. Since that time he has contributed immensely to the community through his teaching, coaching and the avocation of special projects and programs.
