The original buildings which housed ‘Iolani's elementary students on the Ala Wai campus were built in 1946. By 1967 extensive new facilities had been constructed.

Today, the main wings of the Lower School contain classrooms for grades three through six, two science labs, and the offices of Lower School Administration, Admissions and Counseling, as well as an infirmary.

Adjacent facilities provide classrooms for Kindergarten through grade two, in addition to areas for special subjects like music, religion and dance.
