Analysis of soil from across O‘ahu

Analysis of soil from across O‘ahu

February 15, 2012 - Members of the Class of 2017 in the combined geography-science course analyzed samples of soil from their homes to identify different types of soil on Wednesday.

The seventh graders also plotted their sample locations in Google Earth to create a map, which will be used in a future geography activity.

In addition, the students did a "leaching" analysis to observe the particles that were carried down into deeper layers of soil along with the water that flows through it.

The combination course taught by Mrs. Michelle Yoshioka (Earth Science) and Dr. Mark Brasher (Geography).
