BOYS SOCCER: Raiders 1, Hurricanes 1

February 18, 2012 - The ‘Iolani School boys varsity soccer team tied Kapolei, 1-1, for third-place in the 2012 HHSAA State Championships on Saturday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

The Hurricanes scored an early goal and held that lead until junior Kelle Miyama headed in a goal off a corner kick by senior defender Kasey Chun in the 79th minute.

Top-seeded Mililani beat 'Iolani, 1-0, in a semifinal match on Friday night. The OIA champion Trojans scored the winning goal in the 45th minute.

The Raiders defeated fourth-seeded Kealakehe, 1-0, in the quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder KJ Ahlo scored the game's lone goal, smashing a rebound past the WaveRider goalkeeper in the the 21st minute (pictured above).

'Iolani beat Aiea, 1-0, in the first round on Wednesday afternoon. In that game, freshman Max Ching scored the deciding goal in the 57th minute off a corner kick by Chun.
