Headmaster candidate visits
To Our ‘Iolani ‘Ohana,
In keeping with our promise to update you on the status of the search for our new Head of School, I am writing again to let you know that our three finalists and their spouses will be visiting the school over the next three weeks. The first candidate arrives today and will spend two days visiting with members of the 'Iolani community. The second candidate will be on campus on February 6 and 7 with the final candidate arriving on February 9 and 10.
During the two-day visits, each finalist will meet with the Board of Governors, senior administrators, faculty and staff as well as representative groups of parents, alumni, and students. Each individual who meets with the finalists will be able to provide valuable feedback to the Search Committee by completing a confidential survey which will be compiled and summarized by our search firm, Wickenden Associates.
As the selection process reaches its final stages, the Search Committee greatly appreciates your understanding of the need for discretion and privacy. The Search Committee will not be releasing the names of the finalists to the general public in order to follow the protocol that was agreed to with all of our candidates to maintain the confidentiality of the process of appointing our new Head of School.
Once the on-campus visits are complete, the Search Committee will review all feedback and the results of extensive reference checks before recommending one Head of School candidate to the Board of Governors for appointment at its February 21st meeting. The Search Committee hopes to announce our new Head of School in early March.
As we near the finish line, the Search Committee wants to thank all of you for your understanding and patience throughout our search which began last August. We are all humbled and honored to be guiding this process for our school and are grateful that we have been able to work together as ONE TEAM!
‘Iolani No Ka Oi!
With much aloha,
Lisa Sakamoto
