Kāko‘o ‘Ōiwi service learning project
The participants were all members of the Class of 2014, who are enrolled in "ChemCom" (chemistry in the community).
Kāko‘o ‘Ōiwi is an non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the ancient lo‘i patches in the He‘eia ahupua‘a.
The ‘Iolani juniors were part of the effort to uncover the old lo‘i patches and got waist-deep in the mud for several hours, digging a new patch to allow stream water to fill the cavity.
