VIDEO: Rev. David P. Coon's reflections on ‘Iolani
In front of more than 130 alumni, parents and friends, Rev. Coon shared his thoughts on the changes 'Iolani went through during his long association with the school, which is currently celebrating its 150th anniversary.
Among his many contributions to 'Iolani, he is credited with lifting the school to financial stability and leading it towards coeducation.
Rev. Coon and his wife, Joanne, are now retired and reside on the Big Island in Kamuela.
This was the second in a series of lunch events held by the 'Iolani Alumni Association with special speakers from the 'Iolani Family. New Head of School Dr. Timothy R. Cottrell was the featured speakers at the first one on Oct. 19, and was introduced by former Headmaster Dr. Val T. Iwashita '67.
Stay tuned for details regarding a third installment of the Sesquicentennial Speaker Series.

I am occasionally reminded by my wife of more than thirty years of the remarkable and enviable education I received at Iolani. We had academic opportunities that few others could boast of. Now, nearly fifty years since graduating, it is the Iolani family, the curriculum, that remains.
