OLDER POSTS:

We hope everyone is enjoying the school year so far.  Don't forget to take a break from the studies and join us for our Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 30!  The `Iolani Ohana knows that service keeps our family strong -- so we will begin with a service project at our neighboring school, Ala Wai Elementary, from noon - 2 pm, and finish with fun at the `Iolani Pool and Gym from 2 - 5 pm.

The service projects at Ala Wai will include planting, painting, and weeding, amongst other projects.  If any of you can donate plants to beautify the campus, please let us know.  Please come dressed to get a little dirty, and don't forget your sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and water (and gardening tools if you have them).  After that, we'll return to our own campus and enjoy refreshments and fun at the pool and gym.

If you're able to join us, we will need help in the following areas: set up and clean up at Ala Wai and at `Iolani; help coordinating activites and refreshments at `Iolani; and donations of plants for Ala Wai and refreshments at `Iolani.

Want to be part of the fun?  Sign up right here>> FAMILY FUN DAY or keep an eye out for flyers coming home with your child.  Please contact Kendis Teho (kendis [dot] teho [at] gmail [dot] com or 808.753.6018) or Shari Kaneshiro (sharikaneshiro [at] gmail [dot] com or 808.551.3967) if you have any questions.

Hope to see you there!

Aloha,

The new school year is approaching and I'm sure our sons and daughters are anxious to get started.  During the first week of school the students will be getting accustomed to their new classes, schedules and getting acquainted with the upper school campus.

On Friday, August 24th, a full day of activities have been planned, called Discover 'Iolani Day (DID).  The coordinator of the event is requesting desserts to be served during lunch.  A regular serving of brownies, cookies, cupcakes (homemade would be great!) will make that day extra special.  Please send your dessert with your child to school on Friday, August 24th and have them drop it off in room I-205.

Parent volunteers will also be needed to transport, set-up and clean-up from about 11am-1pm. We are also looking for 2-3 volunteers to take pictures throughout the day at various locations throughout the upper school campus and then download them in our Weinberg Lab at the end of the day.  Quality photos will be posted in Castle Hall, used in the yearbook, and also saved for their senior slide show.

If you're able to donate desserts, volunteer to assist, or take photos, please sign up HERE as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Kathleen Dyer (Marley)
