The purpose of Orff Ensemble is to allow students in grades 5 and 6 to participate in an elective based on playing barred instruments and recorders. This class focuses on strengthening skills such as playing rhythms and reading music, and it introduces students to performing as an ensemble. They learn how to work together. Everyone is taught the importance of listening to each other and being patient, especially while learning new music.
The repertoire for Orff Ensemble includes pieces that range from traditional American folk songs to contemporary pieces from around the world. There are two concert performances during the school year. The first takes place in the fall/winter and the second is in the spring.
