Students may attend field trips to a variety of venues to support and expand on learning objectives and goals that are introduced in the classroom curriculum. In-school activities such as musical performances, athletic demonstrations and cultural offerings also focus on supporting and expanding goals and objectives that are presented to students as part of the overall academic curriculum at our school. Examples of curriculum related field trips include visits to museums, plays and a three-day trip to the Big Island that culminates the fourth grade year-long study of Hawaii.
Students in grades 2-6 may also participate in a variety of after school clubs such as robotics, Christian fellowship, chess and checkers, cheerleading, golf, dance and knitting. For grades 4-6, there is an after-school intramural program and Lower School athletic program. The intramural program may include basketball, flag football, soccer, water polo, volleyball, or field games. The Lower School athletic program includes, girls' and boys' basketball, softball, baseball, and wrestling. Students in grades 5 and 6 are also eligible to be JPOs and/or acolytes. 'Iolani School also sponsors a Brownie troop and a Cub Scout pack.
Students may elect to take after school lessons such as art, swimming, tennis, dance, piano or strings that are part of our Special Programs (For a complete list, see the Special Programs link).
