Band 1* - Any student wishing to learn to play a wind or percussion instrument may take this course. Elementary band methods are used and the rudiments of music are studied. Team effort is also emphasized from working together as a group to selecting instruments. Due to the popularity of certain instruments, quotas have been established to assure a balanced representation of each instrument section.  Prerequisite for percussion: At least two years of piano instruction prior to Band 1.

Band 2* - Open to students who have satisfactorily completed at least one year of band instruction. Elementary and intermediate band techniques are covered and demonstrated in class activities and three major performances. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.

Band 3* - Open to students who have had at least two years of band instruction. Intermediate and moderately difficult materials are studied. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.

Band 4* - Open to students who have had at least three years of band instruction. In the fall, emphasis is on marching band skills; in the winter and the second semester, concert band. Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. Attendance at band camp is recommended.
