Orchestra 1* - Any student who wishes to learn to play an orchestral string instrument-violin, viola, cello or double bass-may take this course. Pianists are encouraged to study a string instrument and are offered accompamemt parts when available.

Orchestra 2* - Open to students who have satisfactorily completed at least one year or more of string instruction. Basic string materials are emphasized.

Orchestra 3* - Open to students in grades seven through twelve by consent of instructor. Intermediate orchestral literature is studied, and wind players may be added to form a philharmonic orchestra. 

Orchestra 4* - Open to students in grades seven through twelve by audition  or consent of instructor. More complex orchestral literature is studied. Wind players are added to complete the instrumentation needs for a philharmonic orchestra.

Orchestra 5* - Open to students in grades seven through twelve by audition only. Standard orchestral literature is studied. Wind and percussion players are added for symphonic works, including a yearly concerto concert.

* There are performance requirements throughout the academic year.
