Kudos for Athlete Graduates
According to Leila Way of The Honolulu Advertiser, several 'Iolani graduates have distinguished themselves in the classroom as well as in their athletic endeavors.
The Advertiser reports that Utah freshman basketball player Hennasea Tokumura ('06)and Utah junior volleyball player Lacey Lavarias (04) were named to the Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference team for the spring semester. Hennasea earned a 3.49 GPA, and Lacey clocked in at 3.88.
Other 'Iolani graduates earned Northwest Conference All-Academic honors for the 2006-07 school year:
Puget Sound junior cross country and track and field runner Kelly Higa (Iolani '04 of Kane'ohe) is a business major.
Puget Sound freshman baseball player Jarvis Nohara ('Iolani '06) is a business major.
Puget Sound freshman volleyball player Leigh Sumida ('Iolani '06 of Kane'ohe) is undecided.
