‘Iolani’s alumni population is a diverse one, stretching geographically across many countries, professionally across many industries, while spanning across many generations. With the launch of the new ‘Iolani School Online Community, each alumnus/a will have exclusive access to this huge ‘Iolani alumni network.
The community, which is can be accessed by clicking on Alumni link at www.iolani.org, will serve as a tool for users to connect with classmates, share some information about themselves, and network for professional and personal development. Included on the password-protected site are a number of interactive, easy-to-use features, including:
• Alumni Directory: The comprehensive and secure directory makes staying in touch with classmates and friends easier with search capabilities by a number of different fields, including class year, occupation, college attended and much, much more. Registered users decide which personal information is viewable by other alumni.
• Personal Home Pages: These pages let alumni create their own personal webpage, including photo uploads. All the information is completely editable, so users may change the information whenever they wish.
• Online Event Registration and Payment: With the event registration tool, alums will be able to RSVP for an event online, and make payment as well.
• ClassNotes: Alumni may use use the online classnotes form to submit a classnotes item that other users can see, including photo uploads. Users may also view classnotes online and search submissions sorted by class year.
• Discussion Boards: Threaded message boards allow members to post opinions on various topics and respond to other’s postings.
• Internal Mailbox: Members can communicate with each other through the community’s internal messaging system while maintaining the privacy of their e-mail address.
• Yellow Pages: Alumni business owners may promote themselves within the community.
• Mentoring: With the sites mentoring page, users can volunteer their services and be included in a searchable database that other alumni can view.
Each alumnus/a has been issued a temporary username and password, which provides access to the secure areas of the site. The username and password may be changed by the user upon log-in.
