Thursday's opening night performance of 'Iolani's production of The Wiz gave everyone in the audience, young, old, and young at heart, moments to cherish. The splash of vibrant costumes and even more exciting dancing and singing brought life and vitality to the stage of the historic Hawaii Theater.

According to English teacher Ms. Cate Waidyatilleka, "The musical features so many talented actors, singers and dancers, it would be misleading to single anyone out." It is truly an ensemble triumph, characterized by energy, humor, showmanship and talent not often seen in a high school production.
Director Rob Duval, Choreographer Katherine Jones ('Iolani '93), Vocal Director John Alexander, and Orchestra Director Wayne DeMello, have pulled together over seventy talented students, including ten Munchkins from the Lower School.
Tickets for Friday and Saturday are still available at the 'Iolani Performing Arts Department (943-2244) or the Hawaii Theater box office (528-0506).
Curtain at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
