Two Iolani artists recently received national recognition for their art work. The two girls, students of art teachers Janis Uehara and Holly Chung, are Marisa Torigoe and Zoe Petticord.
Torigoe, pictured below with Rep. Neil Abercrombie and teacher Uehara, received her award from the Congressional Art Awards Competition. Her painting will be displayed at the Capitol, and she will fly to Washington for a reception in June.
Petticord is a National Scholastic Gold award winner. Her work will be displayed at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C.
