Freshman Thuy Ny Le was featured in the latest issue of the Hawaii Council for the Humanities newsletter for the video she made for History Day on "Vietnamese Refugees:Triumph Born from a Tragic Migration."
Her video qualified for the State History Day and was shown on a local Vietnamese TV station and at the Student Film Festival at Dole Theaters.
Although she did not qualify for National History Day, The Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii helped her attend the national competition at the University of Maryland early last June.
Thuy Ny was a student at 'Aiea Intermediate last year; she joined the 'Iolani Class of 2011 on a Freeman Scholarship. She hopes to make more documentaries in the future and has already signed up for the ‘Iolani Speech and Debate team.
