The International Jazz Festival featuring outstanding musicians and groups was held at Kapolei Hale on Sunday, November 6.
The program started at 11:00 a.m. with the 25th Infantry Division Lighting Swing Big Band.
Iolani's Stage Band III followed, playing from noon to 1:00 p.m.
By that time, a large audience had arrived and was scattered through the courtyard, some on chairs that had been set up and others sitting on the lawn or standing around the corridors of the building.
After an introduction by Mayor Hannemann '72, Curtis Abe gave a brief introduction to each selection and later talked about the stage band program at Iolani.
The audience was blown away by the great sound of the band and greeted with overwhelming praise by the organizer of the Festival, Abe Weinstein.
After the stage band performed, the concert continued with some of the outstanding musicians in Honolulu such as Gabe Baltazar, DeShannon Higa, the Honolulu Jazz Quartet and many others. The whole program concluded at 7:00 p.m.
