Student Harpist to Perform

Harpist Melody Rose Lindsay, and the Trebles of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu Choir conducted by Carl Crosier, will present a special holiday concert featuring works for chorus and harp, harp solo and harp with organ. 
 
 
EVENT: Lutheran Church of Honolulu's Abendmusiken Concert II, Young  Artist Series featuring harpist Melody Rose Lindsay, and the Trebles of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu Choir, Carl Crosier, conductor.

TICKETS:  $20 general, $15 seniors, $12 students, available at the door or by calling the Lutheran Church of Honolulu at 941-2566.
 
Free parking at church lot on Poki Street, one block mauka of the church.
 
Britten's "Ceremony of Carols," John Rutter's "Tomorrow Shall be My Dancing Day," as well as works by Bach, Hindemith,
Kondonassis, and unique arrangements of traditional holiday favorites will be featured.

Melody will also perform a special arrangement of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" for Harp and Organ with her nine-year-old, organist brother, Christopher Lindsay, and many harpy, holiday works including "Sleigh Ride," "Dream Season," excerpts from "The Nutcracker Suite," and "Carol of the Bells."  This concert is part of the Abendmusiken II, Young Artist Series provided for the public by the Lutheran Church of Honolulu.

A free preview performance will be given on Saturday, December 20th from 11:30AM-12:15PM at the Main Branch of the Hawaii State Public Library at 478 South King Street in Honolulu, near Iolani Palace. 

The preview will feature Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" as well as other holiday favorites.

A 17 year old high school senior, Melody Rose Lindsay, has been described as "captivating" by the Honolulu Advertiser and "a harp phenom" by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin
 
This past summer Melody received all  outstanding reviews from the international panel of harpists at the  World Harp Congress in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and was awarded the Deane Sherman Fellowship, given in honor of the founder of the World Harp Congress. 
 
Melody is the recipient of the first Dora Derby Award from the Honolulu Symphony Associates, a 2008 Morning Music Club Scholarship, and is the youngest harpist to receive the Mildren Biehn Johnson Award for "outstanding musical promise" from the American Harp Society of the Western Hemisphere. 
 
Melody has performed on NPR's "From the Top" show, is a popular performer on YouTube, and gives cultural leadership recitals and lectures throughout the United States and  Europe.
