The Fullerton Guitar Orchestra will hold a free concert in Seto Hall tonight, Tuesday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome.
This 16-member orchestra was one of the first classical guitar orchestras in the U.S.. Under the direction of David Grimes, it has become a leader in the field and is one of the premier instrumental ensembles at California State University, Fullerton. The members of this year's touring ensemble are all students majoring in guitar at Cal State Fullerton.
The program will feature pieces by Ole Axelsen of Denmark, Leo Brouwer of Cuba, Roland Dyens of Tunisia, Veselin Stoyanov of Bulgaria, Annette Kriusbrink of the Netherlands, Derek Cornett of the U.S., and Hansjoachim Kaps of Germany. Also featured will be a performance by Triada, a brilliant guitar trio composed of three brothers from Bulgaria, Nikola, Petar, and Vasil Chekardzhikov.
