This past weekend, the Oahu Band Directors Association held their annual Parade of Bands at two venues – McKinley High School Auditorium for the high schools bands and the Pearl City Cultural Center for the middle school and 9th grade bands.
Iolani’s Band 4 performed on Thursday evening, playing Jenkins' American Overture and Sparke’s Music for a Festival.
The two adjudicators, Dr. Thomas Leslie from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and Dr. Barry Kopetz of Capital University in Ohio both gave the band a rating of I, that is, the highest rating possible.
On Saturday afternoon, Band 3 performed Reineke’s Into the Raging River and Swearingen’s Majestia for adjudication and received an overall rating of I- from the same adjudicators.
Richard Hotoke, band director, was very pleased with the performances of both bands.
