The 'Iolani Boys' Intermediate Black soccer team, coached by Keoni Ahlo and Tonee Suetsugu, has dominated the league this season.
They have gone undefeated for two years straight, allowing a total of only five goals in two seasons.
They recently won their second consecutive intermediate championship, clinching the title by winning their final game at Kozuki stadium on the same day of Eddie Hamada's passing. Mr. Hamada would have been proud.
This year the Black team accomplished their undefeated season despite having no ninth graders on the team and splitting the school's talent with the Intermediate Red team.
'Iolani's dominance of boys' intermediate soccer is highlighted by the comparable success of the 'Iolani Boys' Intermediate Red team, which has finished second the last two years with a sterling record against all other ILH teams.
The Black team's championship run broke a long-standing streak of championships by Kamehameha, which fields one "stacked" team to compete against 'Iolani's and Punahou's evenly split squads.
While the varsity and junior varsity teams deservedly get top billing, both intermediate boys' teams and their coaches have done the school proud!
