Boys Div IAA Loses to Kamehameha, 53-36
by Al Linsky
As I watched this game I wondered if the Warriors also had finals this week. I seem to remember they have a different schedule, thus it was a normal week for them.

On the basketball court it didn't look normal to me as the Raiders looked sluggish and less crisp than usual. And, as you will also see, the girls IAA team also had a less than great outing losing by even a greater margin.
Add that to the fact that the boys' varsity I team lost to the Warriors and I'm wondering if we need to think about not having games during finals week.
Anyway, it wasn't a very close game. The Raiders never led. It was 16-7 at the end of the first quarter, 24-12 with 3:29 to go in the second, 38-26 at the end of the third and 53-36 at the end.

Girls Div IAA Absorb 67-29 Beating
by Al Linsky
After seeing the boys play less than stellar ball, I was thinking about how hard it is for these kids to play well after a mentally exhausting week.
The girls also had trouble getting going Thursday night at the Iolani gym. They always looked a step behind as the energetic Warriors made many steals, shot lights out and beat the tired Raiders in every phase of the game.
The Warriors raced to an 8-0 lead and never looked back. It was 41-17 at the half, 51-26 after three, and 67-29 at the end.
The first time these teams met, at Kamehameha, 'Iolani won.
This makes the outcome of this game even more perplexing, at least to this observer.
