Varsity Girls Basketball Wins 54-41 Over MPI

The Star-Bulletin said it was an easy victory.

Hmmmm, did I see a different game?

Yes, the Raiders had a ten point lead pretty regularly throughout the game, but the Owls kept hanging around and refused to fold.

At the end of three quarters, the score was 37-31 for the Raiders, and I remember the lead getting down to four points in the last quarter. Easy win? Not in my opinion.

The Raiders hit on a lot of three pointers, Georgette Lopes-Liutolo had four, and Lahela Usui had three. Lori Yamashita also had a three pointer, so the Raider long range shooting was definitely on and played a big part in the victory.

Mahina Haina went down with what looked like a sprained ankle. After a tight taping she was able to return but was still favoring her ankle and didn't stay in long. Let's hope it's not too serious.

Easy win? No. Solid win? Yes.

Next game is Saturday at 'Iolani gym, 6:00 p.m., against a dangerous Warrior team.
