Raiders Over Owls In Overtime, 48-43
by Al Linsky
With Jamie Smith on the sidelines with a broken nose and minor concussion, it was time for the rest of the Raiders to step up and figure out a way to beat a pesky Owl team without their leading scorer and rebounder.
The first quarter saw a lack of scoring from both teams as it ended with a 5-4 score, advantage Raiders. But, as the game went on, the bigger Owls started scoring more from down low. It was 16-16 at the half.

By the end of the third quarter, the Owls had taken the lead at 27-25 and also had the momentum.
With 4:23 left in the final quarter, it was 32-27 for the Owls. At 2:36 left it was 37-29 for the Owls.
At this point, a lesser team would have folded up the tent and headed home. But the maturity of the senior-laden Raiders team showed through: the defensive pressure increased, and the Owls were forced into errors that turned into points for the Raiders.
The Raiders went on an 8-0 run to tie it at 37-37 with a few seconds to go. A shot at the buzzer missed, and the game went into overtime. 'Iolani owned the overtime outscoring the Owls 11-6 for the victory.
Kylie Ahloa had a big scoring night for the Raiders with 17, followed by Dayna Jandoc with 10, Chanel Hirata 9, Hailey Maeda 6, Lahela Usui 4 and Tami Konishi 2. The Raiders made 7 three pointers.
The Owls were led by Keaton McFadden with 11, Jenna Savusa 10, Ashley Yamachika 8, Jordan Kealoha 7, Johnelle Kapua 4 and Paige Young 3. The Owls made 4 three pointers.
