Raider Boys Lack Numbers but Prevail
As the morning Advertiser pointed out, it was a small band of brothers, an "elite eight" who joined together to bring 'Iolani the State swimming championship.
Led by freshman Kacy Johnson, 'Iolani scored 62 points to Punahou's 43 to win swimmingly.
Johnson, according to the Advertiser, won the 200 individual medley and the 500 free. He was a key member of two winning relay teams, one of which set a meet record.
Geramiah Simoes won the 100 fly for 'Iolani and swam a leg for the 200 free relay team.
Also swimming relays were Rayfe Asaoka-Gaspar, who swam three of them, Ian White and Kevin Jones. 'Iolani won all three relays.
On the girls' side, it was pretty much Punahou all the way as they finished with 75 points to 'Iolani's 21. Scoring points for the 'Iolani girls were Kira Sasaki and Stephanie Chun,
