Kyle Pape State Player of Year

Kyle Pape leads the best in the StateSenior Kyle Pape, captain of the Iolani State Championship basketball team, is the Hawaii State Player of the Year as named by The Honolulu Advertiser in a poll of coaches, officials and journalists.

The Advertiser cited a ballot calling Pape's selection a "no brainer" as he and his teammates repeated as state champions despite the loss of last year's Player of the Year, Derrick Low.

Vinny Nip won second team honors.

Wally Marciel, Jon Takamura and Kawika Shoji won Honorable Mention.
