HHSAA State Track and Field Championships

There was vog and humidity at the Mililani H.S. track, but there was also a very high level of interest and excitement in this year's HHSAA State Championship.

Athletes from Iolani who participated in the trials on Friday included Chase Weber (discus, shot put), Olivia Fatongia (discus, shot put), Reid Furukawa (long jump), Malia Ma (long jump, triple jump), Kim Roy (triple jump), Emily Shiraki (pole vault), Allie Stitham (pole vault), Matt Brady (pole vault), Kelsey Matsuoka (100), Cameron Lee (100) and Tyler Mulloy (1500).
The 4x100 team was Kelsey Matsuoka, Darcy Shindo, Erika Nana and Presley Pawn.
Trevyn Tulonghari (400), Taylor Wong (300 hurdles), Maile Scarpino (800), Taylor Chock (800), Jenna Wong (3000), Borys Pleskacz (3000), Justin Higa (3000).
The our girls' 4x400 team was Alyssa Simbahon, Darcy Shindo, Maile Scarpino and Taylor Chock while the boys' 4x400 team consisted of Trevyn Tulonghari, Clay Ozaki-Train, Taylor Wong and Jumpei Uchida.
Athletes advancing to the finals on Saturday were Olivia Fatongia (discus - 3rd place), Reid Furukawa (long jump - 1st place), Malia Ma (triple jump - 7th place), Emily Shiraki (pole vault - 5th place), girls 4x100 (7th place), Taylor Wong (300 hurdles - 7th place), Maile Scarpino (800 - 6th place), and Jenna Wong (3000-3rd place).
As teams the girls placed 12th and the boys placed 17th.
