'Iolani JV Girls Red Volleyball vs MPI
by Al Linsky
The lower gym was hopping with activity on this second day of school as both JV teams were scheduled to play.
The first match pitted the Red team vs MPI. This was a very exciting match going the full three games.

The first game saw the Raiders control play and build a big lead, seeing scores of 10-4 and 16-7. As the Raiders moved toward the magic "25" number, though, MPI started to find its rhythm.
Number 20 started making her shots from the front, mixing in some "dink" type shots with her spikes. Added to number 18's solid setting and serving and the momentum started switching to the Owls. The Raiders won the first game at 25-21, but the Owls were playing better at the end of the game.
The second game saw the Owls continue their momentum, taking the second with a score of 25-18.
The third game was more of the same as the Owls controlled play, running to a 14-8 lead. The Raiders then started to get back into the action and began a run to get the game back to 20-23. The Raiders were now playing at their best, but it was a bit too late with the Owls finishing it off at 25-21.

'Iolani JV Girls Black Volleyball vs Punahou Blue
by Al Linsky
The match against Punahou Blue was the second match of the day. The Red team went down to a game MPI team in 3. The Black team met a Punahou Blue team that gave no ground.
The first game started out badly for the Raiders as the Puns ran out to a 12-3 lead. By the end of the first game it was 25-14 and the Puns were almost in complete control
The Raiders tried to regroup in the second game but the Puns would have none of that. The second game was close for about the first 10 points as I remember a score of 5-5. But the Puns then pulled away to 12-5 and won it in a score of 25-13.
