The Raiders volleyball team earned a bye in the first round of the ILH Tournament due to their undefeated regular season record of 15-0. On Thursday night, in the lower gym, the VB Raiders took on a dangerous Sacred Hearts team for the right to play the Kamehameha-Punahou winner for the ILH Tournament Championship and the first seed in the State Tournament.
It was looking like a close, exciting match as the Lancers finished fourth during the regular season and had some potent weapons.

It didn't really happen, though, as the well-rested Raiders immediately established their dominance running out to a 7-3, 14-4, 21-6 lead and finishing the first game at 25-7.
That first game went so smoothly it was almost eery as everything worked. It even seemed that every call that had any type of question went the Raiders' way. The crowd was a bit stunned.
The Lancers regrouped and came out determined to make it a match in the second game. They served better and started getting a few shots to drop, keeping the game somewhat close. It was mostly a 4 or 5 point lead for the Raiders, but it held as the Lancers couldn't close the gap. The final score of 25-20 seemed about right.
Next up for 'Iolani is #2 Kamehameha at Kamehameha, 1pm, on Saturday. The Warriors beat the Puns 25-17, 25-17 at Punahou to set up the second meeting of the two best ILH teams (and State). Big game coming up? You bet!
You know the crowd will be huge and loud. See you at Kapalama!
