Int. V-Ball Peaks Perfectly
Int Black VB'ers Move On With Win Over Puns
by Al Linsky
Talk about peaking at the right time!
This team struggled earlier in the season, losing to both Punahou teams. They have now avenged both those losses and are going to the finals of the ILH Intermediate VB tournament.

In the first game, 'Iolani jumped out to a 9-3 lead as the Puns struggled to get organized.
The lead extended to 12-8, but the Puns started to play better and came all the way back to tie the game at 15-15. The Raiders were able to withstand this run and get two going of their own, both runs of 5-2 to close out the game at 25-19.
The second game was almost a perfect mirror of the first. The Puns went out fast to a 7-2 lead, then 13-8 and 16-8, before the Raiders adjusted. The Raiders worked their way back, one point at a time all the way to 20-21, before the Puns closed it out at 25-20.
All tied, one game a piece with the momentum slightly favoring the Puns, but the Raiders still looked confident and didn't back down at all.
The third game was a classic, tight all the way, with ties at 6, 9, 11, 17, 18, 19 and 20. As the tension grew, the Raiders responded, pulling out to a 24-21 lead and an eventual 25-22 win.
This was a great match played by two very good teams.
I haven't confirmed it, but I think the finals will be some time Saturday against the Kamehameha-Word of Life winner.
