The varsity football team warmed a big Homecoming crowd at Kozuki Stadium and rode a torrid first half that narrowly missed kicking the game into the Mercy Mode to a convincing 28-6 victory over a game but out-manned Word of Life eleven.

The strong legs of Kellen Imada and the accurate passing arm of Jarrett Arakawa powered the Raiders to two touchdowns in the first quarter and two more in the second.
A fifth and mercy rule invoking score was thwarted on the one foot line as the first half came to an end.
That was it for the 'Iolani scoring.
In the second half Word of Life peeled off a 70 yard run in the second half for its lone score. A missed point after settled the final score at 28-6.

'Iolani was able to rest many of its starters in the second half as the game devolved into a scoreless exercise for the Raiders.
Imada rushed for over eighty yards and three touchdowns.
Ammon Baldomero had fifteen carries for twenty yards.
Arakawa was red hot in the first half, completing eleven straight passes and finishing the day with over two hundred passing yards. He threw a twenty yarder to Imada to set up the first score and a nifty thirty yard toss to Kela Marciel for the third TD.
The receiving corps was well balanced as Brandon Ball, Keenan Ho'ohuli, Travis Muraoka, Kellen Imada, Trevyn Tulonghari, Kevin Barayuga, Kela Marciel, Anthony Genco, Travis Sato, Sheldon Lee, Ammon Baldomero and Lambert Leong all had at least one catch.
The 'Iolani band and dancers entertained the crowd at half-time, and the Homecoming Court made its traditional appearance on the field dressed in tastefully casual shirts and jeans.
The sun was bright, the flags were flying, the field embellished with a Raider logo and the red clad crowd loud and active. All in all a fine day for 'Iolani football and Raider spirit.
'Iolani had already clinched the Div 2 ILH championship, but the Homecoming victory put the team back on the winning path. Following the big upset of St. Louis, the Raiders lost a tight game to Kamehameha and a blow-out to Punahou. Now the team is ready to finish the ILH season and move into post season competition, seeking another Div 2 state championship.
