For you non-soccer fans out there, you probably think I'm crazy when I tell you this was an exciting game. The score was 0-0.

How could it be exciting?

Well, first of all, the teams were very evenly matched. Ball possession time was divided almost perfectly with the Raiders having a slight advantage.

Each team had a few excellent scoring opportunities, but the keepers were up to the task at each shot.

'Iolani's Jaime Rosenberg was very strong in the goal, or should I say, out of the goal, as she repeatedly came out to challenge the shooters. Most of the time this resulted with the Buffanblu shooter on her back. It's been a while since I've seen such aggressive goaltending!

There were the normal, mostly legal, hard hits from both sides, with Ka'ili Taniguchi taking the brunt of most of them, but a few others absorbing blows that necessitated leaving the game.

This game was great fun for me, with the intensity on both teams so high and the goalies and defense keeping the game scoreless. The last few minutes saw the Raiders mount their best offensive rush with a few excellent opportunities. It was a great effort by both teams. What else can you ask for in high school sports?
