It was very cloudy, no sun at all, during the first half of this game at 'Iolani field.
Word of Life was big and strong and played somewhat of a defensive game, playing a lot of long balls whenever they got possession.
Combine that strategy with one of those days when the post seemed like an extra defensive player, and it was a difficult game to play.
But the Raiders kept their composure and patience.
At about 15 minutes, after a bunch of close calls, the Raiders got on the board when Malia Brennan fed Jill Shimabuku from right to center. Jill lofted a perfect ball from 30 yards out that made it over and behind the goalie. 1-0, Raiders.
I had to leave at the half, but a reliable source tells me that the final score was 2-0 after a bunch more hit posts.
This was a good win against a good team.
