Varsity Girls Soccer Ties Kamehameha, 0-0
There weren't a lot of shots on goal at Waipio field 9 on Friday, as the 'Iolani Raiders took on defending champion Kamehameha in the first round of the preseason Kamehameha Tourney.

The Warriors had a few more shots, and probably the better shots, but Raider goalie Lauren Brown made some excellent saves to preserve the shutout.
Last year, the Warriors won the HHSAA State Championship as the only ILH Division I entry. They earned that berth by beating both Punahou and Iolani, two very strong teams in their own right. They then proceeded to mow down all comers at States, only really being tested in the finals against Kapolei.
The Warriors lost quite a bit of talent this year, but will certainly be in the competition for the TWO ILH berths this year. Yes, the ILH will get two berths. Going by recent history, the three teams battling for those berths will be the Warriors, the Puns and the Raiders. Currently, the Raiders are nursing quite a few injuries. Only one, though, is season ending.
Looking at the positive side to the injuries, it's giving some girls a chance to get more playing time now, which might prove valuable as the season goes along.
