On a rain-soaked, wind-swept field on the heights of Kapalama, the Iolani football team rallied for a 17-7 victory over a game but out-manned team from Hawaii Prep Academy on the Big Island Friday night.
With the win, Iolani moves on to play Campbell of the OIA this Friday night at 5:00 at Aloha Stadium.
Playing on at Kunuiakea Stadium on the campus of Kamehameha Schools, where the band has already learned to expect wet weather, the football boys found their passing attack hampered by the heavy showers and brisk breezes in the first half.
In the third quarter the rain let up, and the Raiders staged their own deluge, scoring two touchdowns on Kiran Kepo'o passes to lock up the victory.
Complementing the pass was the ground game which gained over a hundred yards on the fleet feet of Michael Hirokawa.
Iolani now has a record of nine wins and two losses on the season and is headed into its first Division II state championship game.
