Girls Varsity Wins, 3-1, Over Kaiser In Tourney
November 28, 2008

The weather was good for the first round of the Moanalua Tourney at Waipio Soccer Complex. For an 11:00 a.m. game it was cooler than I expected due to the mostly cloudy conditions. The first round opponent for the Raiders was a scrappy Cougar team from Kaiser.

The Raiders won the ball control battle by a fairly wide margin, but the Cougars hung in there keeping the game scoreless until about 30 minutes into the first half when Erin Park let go a shot from about 25 yards out on the right side that ended up in the far left lower corner. 1-0, Raiders.
It was starting to look like the 1-0 score would hold up as the Raiders continued to dominate. But then the Cougars tied it about 15 minutes into the second half. 1-1.
With about 15 minutes to go in the game, the Raiders did quite a bit of substituting bringing in fresh legs. The Cougars were tiring, and they couldn't match the quickened pace.
As the pressure increased, and the number of shots mounted, it seemed just a matter of time before the Raiders would get the lead back.
Presley Pawn made it 2-1 on a nice shot from the right from about 30 yards. 2-1, Raiders.
Kirsten Adams made sure of the win a few minutes later as she broke in on the goalie, faked her a couple of times, and earned herself an open net. Pretty goal. 3-1, and that's how it ended.
