Int. Girls Tie Kamehameha
Intermediate 1 Girls Tie Kamehameha Blue 1-1
December 2, 2008
by Al Linsky
When I looked at the athletic schedule for December, this was a game I circled. Having watched intermediate girls soccer pretty closely over the last six years, I have seen a strong Kamehameha Blue team every year. Both teams were undefeated at 4-0. Yes, this was a game not to be missed.

The first 20 minutes saw what looked like a feeling out process between two heavyweights with a lot of back and forth play at midfield. The ball control edge went slightly to the Raiders.
At about 20 minutes, forward Taylor Kipilii, in the middle of a pileup in front of the Warrior goal, got a quick shot off that got by the goalie. 1-0, 'Iolani.
The Raiders would increase their ball control edge throughout the half, but couldn't get any more goals.
In the second half the ball control started to even out as the Warriors picked up the pace. This paid off about 15 minutes into the second half as a Warrior forward found herself in good position in front and got a low, hard shot off that made it into the right corner. All tied up, 1-1.
The Raiders raised their level of play for the rest of the game, but the Warriors held firm, and it ended in a tie. It was a fitting end to a fun game between two excellent teams.
