Sabers Slash Iolani Title Hopes

Behind a well-drilled, slashing offense that rushed for 350 plus yards, the Campbell Sabers put an end to Iolani's Division II title hopes at the Stadium Friday night by a score of 28-7.

It was all Campbell in the first half as the Sabers ran for over 100 yards just in the first quarter on their way to 21-0 halftime lead.  The Raiders scored on their first possession in the second half to narrow the gap, but Campbell came right back to notch a fourth TD that proved to be more than Iolani could overcome.

It was not the Raiders' night as everything from fumbles and interceptions to a bad snap from center on a punt plagued the ILH Div II champs.  Kiran Kepo'o could not get his passing game in gear, and running back Michael Hirokawa, who ran for 100+ yards last week against HPA was held under 50 total yards.

Much of the war was won and lost in the trenches where the bigger Campbell linemen moved the Iolani defenders out of the way for the quicksilver scatbacks to slash and burn the Raider secondary.

Early in the game, Iolani lost Cameron Petro-Sakuma and Milo Kalama to injuries, but it is doubtful that even their presence could have stemmed the Campbell clan last night.
