Girls Int. Hoops Undefeated
Int. Girls Basketball, 52-36, Over Punahou Blue
December 22, 2008
by Colby Takeda
The 'Iolani intermediate 1 girls basketball team remained undefeated after an ILH matchup with the Punahou Blue team.
The agility and size of the'Iolani team proved to be a winning combination as Punahou lacked the height on the inside and the speed to keep up with the Raiders' quick ball movement.
In the first quarter, however, The Buffanblu gained the early advantage as they led 9-4.
The Raiders responded by forcing critical turnovers in the second quarter, allowing them to gain the lead at 25-14. Their impressive defense was complemented by stunning acrobatic shots from Klein Masutani and Brooke Kaneshiro that were a treat to watch at this level of basketball.
Punahou closed the point gap in the third quarter, but the height and strength of posts Alex Masaquel and Taimane Passi were too much for the Punahou defense.
'Iolani won by the convincing score of 52-36.
