JV Boys Basketball Wins 50-27 Over Monarchs
December 27, 2008
by Colby Takeda
It was all 'Iolani in a lopsided match between the Iolani JV boys basketball team and the Monarchs of Damien High school.

I arrived at the game during the beginning of the second quarter with the Raiders up 13-2. The lead allowed much of the bench to get playing time, providing many scoring opportunities.
Jourdan Simmonds, Evan Sukita, and Kila Zuttermeister were especially strong to the basket, and set the tone for this fast-paced game. The Raiders maintained their lead taking the majority of the shots and rebounds during the second quarter, going into the halftime, 20-7.
Additional impressive performances came from Adam Ching, Tracy Young, and Josiah Sukumaran.
The halftime allowed Damien to recover and regroup for the second half of play. They were able to improve their teamwork during the third quarter, moving the ball better and drawing more fouls ending the quarter, 33-14, 'Iolani.
Damien continued to play tough, but 'Iolani's persistent shooting and aggressive steals allowed them to pull away for a 50-27 victory.
The 'Iolani JV boys basketball team will continue their ILH season against St. Louis High School on Saturday, January 3rd, at the 'Iolani Gym.
