It's the Punahou Boys and Kahuku Girls

The biggest ever Iolani Wrestling Tournament has ended with Punahou taking the boys' division and Kahuku taking the girls' division titles.

Both teams were undefeated and ended with 8-0 and 6-0 records, respectively.
Punahou's road to the championship went through Kahuku (75-6), Leilehua (57-21), Los Banos (63-14), Iolani (61-12), Pearl City (60-9), Christian Brothers (52-13) and Kamehameha (76-6). In the finals, Punahou wrestled El Diamante and maintained a substantial lead throughout winning in a final score of 51-16.
The top six boys teams were Punahou (8-0), El Diamante (7-1), Clovis East (6-2), Kamehameha (6-2), Christian Brothers (6-2) and Nevada Union (4-4).
On the girls' side, Kahuku's path led through Kamehameha (36-12), Punahou (34-15), Waianae (34-21), Moanalua (36-12) and Iolani (33-24).
In the finals, Kapolei went out to an early lead only to see the Red Raiders come storming back as the weight classes went up. The final score was 30-17.
The top four girls teams were Kahuku (6-0), Kapolei (5-1), Iolani (4-2) and Pearl City (2-4).

'Iolani Wrestling Tournament - First Day

The first day of the 'Iolani Wrestling Tournament is in the books.

This year, for the first time, there are girls teams participating. There are eight local girls teams entered: 'Iolani, Kahuku, Kamehameha, Kapolei, Moanalua, Pearl City, Punahou and Waianae.
There are 21 boys teams, 8 from the mainland, 13 local.
Mainland teams are Brea Olinda (CA), Christian Brothers (TN), Clovis East (CA), El Diamente (CA), Los Banos (CA), Nevada Union (CA), Newport (WA) and Shorewood (WA).
Local teams are Aiea, Damien, 'Iolani, Kahuku, Kaiser, Kamehameha, Kapolei, Leileihua, Moanalua, Pearl City, Punahou, Saint Louis and Waianae.
First day matches, held on Friday, went from about 9:30 am to 9pm. Saturday's matches will start at 10am with the championship matches finishing around 9pm.
