Shortly after the boys' soccer team defeated Mid-Pacific 2-0 behind the goals of Kui Bruhn and Kirtus Adams, the basketball teams, Div II and Varsity, faced off against Punahou at the opponents' jam-packed gym.
The Div II game went to Iolani 56-53, an omen of things to come, perhaps. Leo Shimizu and Kyson Morikuni led the scoring for the Raiders.
In the varsity game, Punahou jumped out to first quarter lead, but ended the half trailing 22-18. The third quarter belonged to Iolani as the Raiders opened up a 39-26 lead and held on in the fourth quarter for a 52-50 victory.
Kyle Pape led all scorers with his 24 points. Vinny Nip chipped in another 14 points, while Barry Kang, Kawika Shoji, Jon Takamura and Wally Marciel scored in the single digits.
The victory extends the Iolani win streak against Hawaii opponents to 89 straight; the Raiders are now 6-0 in ILH play and have won 48 straight ILH games. Iolani is 20-2 on the current season, having lost twice in the Iolani Classic in December to mainland teams.

The number 1 basketball team in the state kept its 90 game win streak intact with a 65-44 a victory over Damien at the Monarchs' gym.
After opening a big early lead, Coach Mugiishi took his foot off the pedal and let the Raiders coast to victory behind Captain Kyle Pape's 11 points.
