‘Iolani Summer School students in kindergarten to fourth grade marched in the school’s annual Fourth of July parade on Thursday, July 3 at the school’s stadium. A program, themed “We Are The Children of America" followed the parade and featured original songs and poems that celebrate our nation's founding.
Hundreds of students waving homemade flags and banners followed golf carts decorated as floats while a high school marching brass band plays songs such as “God Bless America” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” The parade was viewed by parents and other students who cheered on the patriotic promenade.
Robert Arakaki, president of the 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans, served as grand marshal. The 100th Infantry Battalion Veteran’s club house on Kamoku Street and ‘Iolani School have been neighbors since 1952.

The National Anthem and America the Beautiful were also sung.
In addition to its regular kindergarten through twelfth grade curriculum, ‘Iolani School offers a six-week summer school program that is open to non-‘Iolani students. This year, more than 2,800 students are enrolled in summer classes.
