Student Wins Award

Fifth grader Lyndsey Shimazu was recently honored with a Lex Brodie's "Thank You... Very Much" Award on the KSSK's Perry & Price Saturday Morning Show held at John Dominis restaurant. She will be featured in an upcoming episode of Tiny TV on OC 16, hosted by Mr. Tiny Tadani. Tiny Tadani and Lyndsey’s homeroom teacher, Mr. David Chun were elementary school classmates.

The "Thank You…Very Much" Award invites students in grades 4-12 to submit a letter describing their appreciation of someone who impacted their life. The “someone” may be a parent, teacher, or friend – anyone who has touched their life. The program recognizes one winning student writer per month and the letter is published in MidWeek.

Lyndsey "thanked" Lyn Kinoshita of the Leeward Families For R.E.A.L. (Resources and Early Access to Learning) at Pearl City Highlands Elementary.

A presentation ceremony in Mr. Chun's homeroom was attended by Mr. Scott Williams, general manager of Lex Brodie, Mrs. Kinoshita, Mr. and Mrs. Shimazu, Lyndsey's parents, and was videotaped by Tiny Tadani.  Lyndsey received a winner's prize package. The class monetary prize and teacher's gift certificate were donated by Lyndsey's homeroom to Mrs. Kinoshita and her Families For R.E.A.L. program.  Congratulations to Lyndsey, her family, and Lyn Kinoshita!
