Orchestras Shine

On Saturday, April 12, 2008 the Pearl City Cultural Center served as the site for the annual Parade of Orchestras with 39 groups from 15 schools participating.  All seven of ‘Iolani’s orchestras participated and every one received the highest rating of Superior.

Our two orchestra teachers, Kathy Hafner and Bill Dick, with the assistance of many parents, chaperoned the 7 busses required to transport the students and their instruments from ‘Iolani to Pearl City and assisted getting the groups on and off the stage as the groups alternated with other schools. This was the first time that all of our orchestras participated in this event.  The photos are of the 6th grade beginning orchestra and were taken by Keoni Ahlo.

Come to hear Orchestras 4 and 5 at their April 26th concert at the Mamiya Theatre at 7 pm to experience the great music produced  by these excellent groups. More wonderful string sounds from Orchestras 1-3 and the 2 Lower School groups will be heard on May 10th at 4 pm when they perform in the Lower Gyn for their final concert of the year.
